Getting Started
If it’s your first time locking up, it can feel intimidating or like you’re not sure where to start. Lucky for you, we’re here to help.
Haven’t ordered yet, and not sure which to buy?
Putting on the cage
- Use the included key to unlock the barrel and remove it from the cage, separating the ring and shaft piece. Keep the key inserted in the barrel.
- Apply some lotion or water-based lube on your penis and balls to help things move a bit easier.
- With the opening in the ring’s lock mechanism facing forward, pull one ball through first, then the other. Finally, push your shaft through.
- Give this a minute, make sure it feels comfortable. Swap out the ring for a size up or down as feels right. You should be able to fit a finger between your balls and the ring without being painful.
- Slide the shaft piece over your penis, aligning the interlocking top piece and the two side tabs and pulling it together flush.
- If you’re having trouble with pinching, use a cotton swab or other similar item to help gently push skin out of the way while you pull the cage closed.
- Hold in place with one hand, and with the other slide the barrel (with the attached key) into the opening.
- Turn the key, locking the barrel in place, and pull the key out.
- Use a cotton swab or other similar item to shift your penis so your urethra sits comfortably in the middle of the front hole in the cage.
- Congrats — you’re now locked!
Urinating
It is highly recommended you sit to pee, especially early on before you have a good grasp on your new anatomy.
Before urinating, double check that your urethra is sitting comfortably in the middle of the front hole of the cage, as this will help greatly reduce splatter. If it is not, use a finger, cotton swab, or other similar item to help nudge it into place.
After urinating, push gently on your perineum to ensure all urine has been released. Dab toilet paper to clean your tip — you do not want dried piss in your cage leading to irritating or infection.
Hygiene
If you’re uncircumcised, it’s very likely you will need to fully unlock in order to properly clean yourself. If you are circumcised, you do have a bit easier of a time in this regard. Some subs opt for an adult circumcision to help with this, but it’s certainly not a requirement.
When in the shower, use a soapy finger and get under the ring and between the bars of the cage. A loofah or other similar item can also help get suds to reach throughout all parts of the cage. Rinse out the soap suds throughly, you don’t want that drying underneath and irritating your skin.
When you get out of the shower, dry thoroughly under the ring and bars of the cage. Some opt to use a blow dryer (on cool!) to help ensure a complete dry.
Moisturizing & Skin Care
Especially early on in your locked journey, your skin is more likely to be irritated by this new device that’s attached to it 24/7.
It’s important to take care of your skin generally, but particularly around your cage. Typically I recommend Aquaphor or another similar petroleum jelly-based moisturizer. Regular petroleum jelly works as well, but the additional soothing ingredients really do help. Either way, this will help reduce friction and comfort the skin around the cage. Apply underneath the ring and the bars of the cage at least once per day after showering. Adjust based on how your skin reacts.
